COFFEE SHOP APP

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The Product

Coffee Shop App is a mobile application designed to streamline the coffee ordering experience while building a community of coffee enthusiasts. The app combines efficient ordering capabilities with educational content about coffee, creating a unique platform for both casual drinkers and connoisseurs.

The Problem

In today's fast-paced world, getting your daily coffee fix comes with several challenges. Long queues during peak hours, inconsistent orders, and the inability to customize drinks exactly to your liking are common frustrations. For coffee shops, managing rush hours efficiently while maintaining order accuracy and customer satisfaction is increasingly difficult. Additionally, many coffee enthusiasts want to learn more about their favorite beverage but lack accessible, reliable resources.

The Goal

  • Enable precise drink customization while ensuring order accuracy

  • Create a loyalty program that genuinely rewards customer dedication

  • Build a community platform for coffee education and appreciation

  • Provide analytics for businesses to optimize their operations

Responsibilities

  • Design intuitive user interfaces for both customers and staff

  • Conduct comprehensive user research across different customer segments

  • Work closely with baristas to understand workflow optimization

  • Collaborate with developers for seamless feature implementation

  • Iterate based on user feedback and usage analytics

Understanding The Problem Better

While coffee consumption spans all age groups, our research showed the primary users are working professionals (25-45) and young adults (18-25). We conducted in-depth user interviews to understand pain points and needs.

Goals of User Interview

  • Understand user behavior patterns around coffee consumption

  • Identify pain points in current coffee ordering processes

Prototype

Takeaway

The coffee shop app prototype revealed several crucial insights about effective mobile ordering design. The streamlined three-step ordering process (select, customize, checkout) proved to be the most intuitive approach for users, while maintaining quick reorder functionality for returning customers. The use of a warm, coffee-inspired color palette (#D4A373, #FEFAE0) not only reinforced brand identity but also provided clear visual hierarchy for important actions. Interactive elements like the customization flow demonstrated that breaking down complex drink modifications into simple, visual steps helps reduce ordering errors. The bottom navigation pattern with key features (menu, orders, rewards, profile) accessible within one tap optimized the app's usability, while the persistent cart indicator kept users informed of their order status throughout their journey.
